Abstract
The high power Nd:glass laser driver of inertial confinement fusion (ICF), referred to as Shen Guang series[1], have been developed in China since 1981. At present, Shen Guang-II (SG-II) facility with an energy output of 6kJ/1ns at 1.053μm, has been playing an important role in laser fusion research. As the concept of fast ignition is getting more and more interesting, the upgrade program of SG-II facility (SG-II-U) has been implemented. A peta watt (PW) beam line, which will deliver 1kJ pulses with pulse duration near 1ps, is being set up.
