Abstract
Common techniques for the generation of nano-particles using a laser beam include pulse laser ablation, chemical vapour deposition, decomposition of gases and physical vapour deposition. These techniques require a vacuum tight chamber for the control of atmospheric conditions and the precise temperature control. Recently, techniques on laser ablation in liquid (LAL) for the generation of nano-particles have been reported [1, 2]. It is an attractive technique for the controlled fabrication of various nanoparlicles of noble metals, alloys, oxides and semiconductors. LAL facilitates the production of crystallized nanoparticles in a single step procedure without subsequent heat-treatments. The entire product can be collected in solution, which simplifies handling. Another advantage is that the production system is simple and does not require costly vacuum equipment.
