Abstract

Multi-protocol label switching with all-optical processing offers the merits of low latency and improved throughput for all-optical packet-switched networks [1]. Spectral-amplitude code (SAC)-based labels allows for processing simplicity and the potential for label stacking [2], In this paper, we demonstrate all-optical swapping of SAC-labels in a semiconductor fiber ring laser (SFRL) using cross-absorption modulation (XAM) in an electro-absorption modulator (EAM).
