Abstract
Optical Single and Vestigial Sideband (OSSB, OVSB) are promising modulation formats for Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks[1]-[2] Since one of the spectral sidebands is suppressed, these formats feature high spectral efficiency and increased robustness to the effects of fiber chromatic dispersion. Furthermore, since there is no spectral back-folding after self homodyne detection, the accumulated fiber dispersion can be mitigated by inexpensive electrical components, such as simple electrical dispersive lines or Butterworth filters[2].
