Transverse emission pattern of a Vertical External Cavity Surface Emitting Laser with high Fresnel number : towards a cavity soliton laser?

Abstract

We experimentally investigate the transverse emission characteristics of an optically pumped Vertical External Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VECSEL) operating in a high Fresnel number regime. In tins case, a large number of transverse modes can lase and spatial decorrelation in the transverse plane is expected. Tins property is sought for the realization of a Cavity Soliton Laser (CSL), winch is one of the motivations for tins work.
