Abstract
Compact lasers light sources emitting in single-frequency with diffraction limited beams and high optical output power of several Watts in continuous-wave (CW) operation are required for many applications including frequency conversion, free-space communications, and pumping of fibre lasers and amplifiers. The spectral region around 980 mn is of the particular interest for pumping of erbium and ytterbium doped fibres as well as frequency doubled lasers emitting at 488 nm.
