Abstract
In recent years there have been efforts to grow Nd:YAG with higher doping concentrations than the standard l.lat.% while maintaining good laser performance. Only recently were crystal growers able to increase doping concentrations with the Czochralski technique from 1.4at.% to 2.5at.%. The flux method can give concentrations over 4at.% but only in small samples. Ceramic YAG is another material that allows high doping concentrations with good laser performance in larger sizes. The Temperature Gradient Technique (TGT) [1] used for the two crystals in these experiments can produce large, lùgli quality Nd:YAG crystals with doping concentrations of up to 3at.%.
