Abstract
Ultrashort solid state lasers are a promising tool for material processing and extreme precise ablation. For many industrial materials a short wavelength of the laser source is favorable. Extracavity frequency doubling is a common possibility to reduce the wavelength of the laser output. Using BiBO as nonlinear crystal for frequency conversion about 1 W of average output power at the second harmonics of a modelocked Ti:sapphire picosecond laser is presented by Ghotbi et al. [1]. The thin disk laser design has shown to be well suited for the generation of ultrashort laser pulses with high average power in an amplifier configuration [2], We present a picosecond regenerative Yb:YAG thin disk amplifier with extracavity frequency doubling using a BiBO crystal.
