Single-cycle attosecond pulse generation by Thomson scattering of terahertz pulses

Abstract

Single-cycle attosecond pulses can be generate by Thomson scattering of terahertz pulses on ultrathin electron layers, produced by a laser-plasma wakefield accelerator. According to our calculations, the energy can achieve more than 1 nJ.
