The range of applicability of Kirchhoff’s law, predicting that emissivity of opaque bodies in thermodynamic equilibrium with environment which should be equal to absorptance, was studied in Er doped dielectric crystals – potential thermophotovoltaics radiation converters. ©2016 Optical Society of America
