Breaking Malus’ Law: Enhancing Asymmetric Light Transmission with Metasurfaces

Abstract

A structure providing broadband asymmetric light transmission at 1.5 μm with a suppression ratio of 24:1 is achieved with a metasurface consisting of three cascaded layers of gold nano-wires, with a total thickness of λ/5.
