A quantum random number generator based on photon number resolving detection of successive photon pulses

Abstract

We demonstrated a quantum random number generator based on the inherent randomness of photon number distributed in individual pulses, measured by using a silicon multi-pixel photon counter. The random bit generation efficiency reached over 40%.
