Control over Two-dimensional Vibrational Trajectory by Phase-shaped Infrared Pulses

Abstract

We demonstrate that relative phase between two vibrational excitations in a metal di-carbonyl compound was controlled by phase-shaped mid-infrared pulses. The control over the relative phase between two normal modes of symmetric and anti-symmetric carbonyl stretch modes corresponds to control over two-dimensional vibrational trajectory at the initial stage after excitation.
