Polarization dependent femtosecond laser ablation of PMMA – role of light-plasma interaction

Abstract

We report elongation of ablation craters along the major axis of the polarization vector when irradiated by a single laser pulse above threshold energy. Numerical studies associate it to local field enhancement during light-plasma interaction.
