Multi-Stage Electrical PMD Compensator in Digital Coherent Receivers for Higher-Order PMD Mitigation

Abstract

We proposed a multi-stage electrical-PMD-compensator for coherent systems. The method is format-independent and capable of mitigating higher-order PMD. We show negligible penalty after compensation in a 100-Gb/s system with 15 ps average DGD.
