An ultrafast all-optical silicon-based nanoring modulator

Abstract

Ultrafast-all optical switching in a silicon-based plasmonic nanoring resonator is proposed. Above bandgap pulses are used to photogenerate free carriers, modifying the refractive index of the silicon and shifting the nanoring resonance.
