Clamping of noise from a stimulated Brillouin scattering amplifier through optical injection locking

Abstract

Coherent measurements of an optical tone amplified by stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) show significant noise when the SBS gain is misaligned, which can be reduced (> 100x) by amplitude clamping through optical injection locking.
