Integrated All-Optical MIMO Demultiplexer for 8-Channel MDM-WDM Transmission

Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a photonic integrated circuit performing simultaneous mode and wavelength demultiplexing. The circuit can receive up to two fibre modes and four wavelength channels per mode. The mode demultiplexing stage integrates a reconfigurable linear network for all-optical MIMO processing, enabling the unscrambling of the mode mixing generated by fibre propagation.
