Abstract

We report the investigation of a hybrid photonic crystal fiber (PCF) realized by filling liquid crystal to a twin-core PCF. Both the index-guiding and photonic bandgap guiding mechanism co-exists in the fiber, leading to interesting properties for sensing applications. This paper presents both simulation results of the hybrid PCF structure and shows preliminary experiment results of the temperature response of the hybrid PCF.
