Abstract
Common surface plasmon resonance refractive index sensors often use side polished, tapered or etched fiber to enable evanescent wave to reach the metal-dielectric interface. These processes are often complex and make fiber fragile. In this paper, we fabricate a simple structure formed by multimode fiber and no-core fiber to stimulate surface plasmon wave. According to our research, the sensitivity of the sensor can reach -48.6 dB/RIU, and the resolution is 2.06×10−4 RIU. When surrounding refractive index is beyond 1.353, the sensitivity is 1582.5nm/RIU and the resolution is 1.26×10−4 RIU.
