Thermally Expanded Core Fibers of 4-µm Mode Field Diameter for Low Loss Coupling with Silicon Photonic Devices

Abstract

Single-mode fibers and polarization-maintaining fibers of 4-µm mode field diameter have been developed applying thermally expanded core technique. The coupling loss with silicon photonic devices can be less than 3 dB/2facets using these fibers.
