Stress-induced optical rotation in CVD-grown diamond

Abstract

Defect induced stress birefringence in CVD grown diamond has been investigated using Metripol and Mueller polarimetry. Optical rotation was observed, up to a maximum of 280 through an 8 mm long diamond sample, in addition to linear birefringence.
