Abstract

There are now many research groups employing fluoride fibre in fibre lasers designed for high power emission at emission wavelengths in the 3 µm region and beyond. To create efficient and therefore high power output from fluoride-based fibre lasers our research group has explored a number of options. In this presentation, I will discuss these methods and offer some general rules-of-thumb that are applicable to the use of fluoride fibre.
