Abstract

We studied optical characteristics of a hollow optical fiber with an air hole at the center of a core. The effects of hole on the intensity distribution, bending loss, dispersion depending on hole sizes and refractive indices were analyzed. This study will provide an important guideline for opto-fluidic devices based on hollow optical fibers.
