Abstract
Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a measurement technique which offers potential for both immediate and in situ analysis. CSIRO has developed a mobile LIBS spectrometer for routine quantitative multi-element analysis of a range of different mineral ore types including iron, nickel and lead/zinc ores. Multivariate data analysis methods are applied to the LIBS spectra to facilitate analysis for a number of elements at major, minor and trace concentrations.
