Abstract
Spectral modeling of wavelength selective switches (WSS) has previously used supergaussian functions to predict the channel bandshape. We show that an error function-based model produces a much more accurate representation of WSS channels, and allows greater utility and ease of use for modeling flexible bandwidth channel plans for next generation optical networks.
