Photonic band-edge shift in a randomly mixed photonic crystal system

Abstract

We have shown that the photonic band-edges (therefore band structure) are well defined and systematically shifted in a photonic crystal band-edge laser system in which two kinds of air-holes are randomly mixed. The observed results are in good agreement with computational simulations.
