Terahertz Radiation from Electrically-Biased Tenuous Plasmas

Abstract

Theoretical investigations show a dc bias in plasmas can efficiently produce terahertz radiation with the frequency, amplitude, polarization, and initial phase controllable. The radiation is strengthened considerably for the bias at the plasma frequency.
