Abstract

The near-field diffraction behavior of deep rectangular gratings with period equal to the incident wavelength was studied by using the finite-difference time-domain method. For TE and TM polarizations, the energy distribution in the grooves is different, and there is a lateral position shift of peak intensity near the exit plane.
