Abstract

When p-polarized laser pulse is incident on metal surface, net positive normal force is exerted on surface ions through screening effect of electrons oscillating under laser electric field. Theoretically threshold intensity and angle dependence are indicated. And possibility as a main mechanism of ablation for sub-femtosecond pulse is discussed.
