Abstract

We evaluate the optical damage problem in the high-peak-power chirped-pulse amplification lasers for the safe design of a PW system. Our study shows that the surface damage is more critical factor than the bulk damage, and thus, a B-integral calculation is not enough for optical damage evaluation.
