Abstract

Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensors incorporating various fiber configurations as probes are reviewed and discussed. These include side-polished and end-polished fibers, photonic crystal fibers (PCFs), and fibers with lens-like tips. All these geometries provide large interaction areas for SERS, with the PCF configuration showing the greatest sensitivity.
