‘Metal Binding Factor’ - A Core Parameter for Long-Range Surface-Plasmon-Polariton Modes

Abstract

We propose a key parameter named 'metal binding factor' for the description of long-range surface-plasmon-polariton (LR-SPP) modes supported on nanometer-thin metal strip waveguides. Based on the results of our numerical simulations, it is confirmed that the parameter can represent all the mode and propagation characteristics of LR-SPP modes successfully.
