Abstract
We present an ultrahigh birefringence elliptic core holey fiber with non-periodic and non uniform cladding structures. The wavelength dependence of the beatlength and birefringence are obtained by wavelength scanning method. Using plane wave expansion method, we study the modal birefringence of the fundamental modes in the proposed fiber. The fiber illustrates a very high birefringence of 1.12 × 10−2 at 1550 nm which is in good agreement with the calculated birefringence.
