Abstract

A fast quasi-3D finite-element beam propagation method in time domain is presented, which can give the equivalent 2D structure from a 3D optical waveguide using spectral index method. This method is verified through simulating optical waveguide grating and ring resonator. The results have good agreement with those by FDTD method.
