The formation mechanism of void array in glass induced by femtosecond laser pulses

Abstract

We investigate the mechanism of formation of periodic void arrays inside glasses irradiated by femtosecond laser. A new model based on the standing plasma wave created by the interference of a fs-laser-driven electron wave and its reflected wave, was proposed to explain the formation of the void array.
