Abstract

By using the cross gain modulation (XGM) characteristics of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), multi-functional all-optical logic gates including OR and NOR gates are successfully demonstrated at lOGbps in single format. The characteristics of all-optical logic OR and NOR are simulated by use of a commercially available VPI simulator.
