Abstract

Operation frequency tuning for an all-optical switch employing 2-dimensional cross-waveguide photonic crystal is demonstrated with an electric field bias control. Applying static electric field up to 600V/μm perpendicular to the signal plane, up to 10THz tuning of the switching frequency can be achieved, without any degradation in the switching characteristics of the device.
