Abstract

Surface plasma waves can be excited in inhomogeneous plasmas by p-polarized waves. We study the interplay between surface plasma waves and mode conversion in cold, unmagnetized plasmas, using the invariant imbedding method. We find that the mode conversion efficiency can be greatly enhanced due to an excitation of surface plasma waves.
