Abstract

The synthetical effect of both high-order dispersion and high-order nonlinearity on cross-phase modulation (XPM) instability in decreasing dispersion fibers (DDF) is investigated based on extended nonlinear Schrödinger equations. The effects of fourth-order dispersion, quintic nonlinearity and axially-varying dispersion parameter to the gain spectra are analyzed.
