Abstract

We demonstrate femtosecond coherent control of nano-optical images in a one-dimensional plasmonic structure. Near-field images are controlled by the relative phase between the two illuminating femtosecond pulses. In this experiment, the near-field intensity is concentrated at the slit positions for the zero phase, whereas a surface plasmon-like standing wave is seen at the phase of 90 degrees.
