Abstract

We have used sum-frequency vibrational spectroscopy to investigate the molecular ordering of self-assembled polyelectrolyte layer-by-layer films, probing every step of the assembly process (adsorption, rinsing and drying). We have also studied the effect of substrate morphology on the defect density of alkanethiol monolayers self-assembled on gold.
