Femtosecond Laser Ablation Rates of Dielectric Materials: Experiments and Modeling

Abstract

Short-pulse laser ablation of dielectrics is modeled using multiple-rate equations for the electronic excitation combined with optical propagation. The model is compared to single-shot experiments on well-defined single-crystal samples.
