Nonlinear Phase-Shift Compensation by a Nonlinear Amplifying Loop Mirror

Abstract

The nonlinear amplifying loop mirror as a nonlinear phase-shift compensator for multilevel phase-encoded optical signals is considered. Simulations of a 20 Gb/s DQPSK transmission system showed a significant BER improvement for post-compensation.
