Novel Micro-Heater Structure for Low-Power and Fast Photonic Reconfiguration

Abstract

A novel microheater structure integrated over small microdisks in silicon on insulator is proposed with less than 100 nanosecond reconfiguration time using pulsed excitation. Power consumption of the devices are shown to be 40% less than conventional microheaters.
