Optimizing Pump Partial Coherence for Efficient Modulation Instability and Supercontinuum Generation

Abstract

We consider the effect of variable pump source partial coherence on the gain of modulation instability and the subsequent efficiency of soliton formation and supercontinuum generation. Optimal regimes for continuous-wave supercontinuum generation are discussed.
