Multi-Octave-Spanning Laser Harmonics for Ultrafast Waveform Synthesis

Abstract

The second to the fifth harmonics of a fundamental frequency are generated in a lithium tantalate crystal by cascaded quasi-phase-matched frequency mixing. These harmonics can be used to synthesize a train of periodic sub-femtosecond pulses.
