Spatial Resolution Enhancement by External Phase Modulation in Long-length FBG Sensing System Based on Synthesis of Optical Coherence Function

Abstract

External phase modulation is newly combined with the synthesis of optical coherence function for improvement of spatial resolution in distributed sensing system using a long-length fiber Bragg grating. The spatial resolution is improved from previously-reported 9.8 mm to 4.0 mm.
