Abstract
The optical properties of Si nanostructures of varying dimensionality, size and fabrication methods is discussed. The Auger coefficient of TiSi2-catalyzed Si nanowires is 2×10−13 cm3/s, lower than that of Si nanoparticles. To avoid ensemble artifacts, fabrication and optical analysis of single nanowires and nanoparticles is presented.
