Abstract

Single-section multiple-spatial-mode passively mode-locked Fabry-Perot laser diodes are demonstrated to have resonant modulation responses between the relaxation oscillation resonance and the mode-locking frequency. The effect is attributed to the intra-cavity active spatial mode coupling.
